A Descriptive Study of Health Literacy and Social Determinants of Health as Curricula Topics in Medical School Education

The purpose of this investigation was to assess the extent which health literacy and social determinants exist together in medical school curricula, attitudes beliefs educators toward relevance these topics taught curriculum. research used a descriptive cross-sectional survey design institutions that comprised Accelerating Change Medical Education (ACE) Consortium American Association. study population 36 ACE institutions, but only 11 made up sample. Results also showed five items were as curricula education with 100% (n = 10) respondents teaching how use plain language skills for oral communication. Respondents rated level at their institution prioritized instructional methods explicitly teach topic curriculum three (27.3%) ranking priority extremely high, seven (63.6%) it one (9.1%) low. influencing person’s status, “economic stability” “social community context” having first second highest mean rankings, respectively. Nine (81.5%) agreed is determinant (M 8.73) predictor status 7.82).
